Kaleidoscope Pinwheel Quilt

Time:10 am to 4 pm

Place: Southwest Arts Center

Fee: $65.00 plus kit fee

 

Learn to create an octagon kaleidoscope quilt from the fabric provided. Your quilt will be smaller than the queen size quilt that would be made from a full purchase of fabric. Your kaleidoscope blocks will consist of 8 sections that will be the same.  As you create each block, you will be amazed with its beauty and uniqueness. Get ready to have some fun! No two blocks will be the same.

 

Skills and Techniques covered:

• Cutting 8 pieces of fabric the get the same design on each

• Pressing vs ironing

• On point quilt setting (optional)

• Mitered borders (optional)

• Sashing (optional)

 

Supply List

• Sewing machine in good working order

• Rulers:  two 24” rulers

• Cutting board for your table

• Flat head pins

• Clover 2507 straight pins for pinning batiks (optional)

• Thread:  Black, white or cream

• Seam ripper, bobbins, scissors

• 45mm rotary cutter with new blade

• Iron and ironing pad (optional)

• Light weight fabric stiffener – starch or sizing (optional)

• Power cord if you bring your iron

 

$50 Kit Fee (paid to instructor on day of class)

• 8 - 9 repeats of the focal fabric (approx. 2 and 7/8 yards – 3 yards)

• 3 yards of the background fabric

• Pattern for queen sized quilt

 

Continental breakfast and lunch provided.
