Fee: $50.00
Learn to crazy quilt by making a 10-12” sample. Use a variety of scrap fabrics to create a base and embroidery stitches to create secondary designs. Createembellishments using ‘fancy threads’, beads, and other items attached to the quilt. Discuss finishing techniques.
Learn and practice 10-12 embroidery stitches, variations, and combinations. Use a variety of fancy threads, including 6-strand floss, Perle cotton, yarn, ribbon, or trim. Leave with a better understanding of types of hand-sewing needles and how to use them. Learn how to attach other items such as buttons, charms, beads, lace, or ribbon that you want to include on your quilt. View samples of fabric art embellished with hand stitching.
Supply List:
pencil
standard sewing needle and thread
harp scissors
four 12 inch squares of muslin
2 skeins of 6-strand floss
needle threader
thimble.
Bring plenty fabric scraps of for the base: different shapes (approx 12” long), colors, patterns and solids, (avoid using batiks). Bring fabric or fancy threads to share or trade.
Optional: embroidery hoop (8 inches or smaller)
Kit Fee Per Student: $5 Kit includes 3 yards of fancy threads, 5 different types of needles, additional embellishments, and handouts. Kit fee is payable to the teacher in the day of class.
Continental breakfast and lunch is included in the class fee.
